ZAP (the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers) kicks off their annual Zinfandel Experience tomorrow in San Francisco and you can bet you’ll find us there throughout the weekend. Not familiar with ZAP? Here’s the skinny:
A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, ZAP was founded in 1991 at a time when Zinfandel was the underdog with a cause. A small group of passionate winemaking pioneers and Zinfandel lovers joined to create a movement that would elevate the understanding and status of Zinfandel wine – rightfully establishing it among the premier varietals of the world.
Ridge was one of those “passionate winemakers” that helped form this organization some twenty four years ago, and we couldn’t be more excited about the events that are about to transpire at this year’s “Zinfandel Experience”.

First off, the basics. The Zinfandel Experience is four unique events over the course of three days:
- Epicuria Food & Zin Pairings – Thursday, January 29th – 6-8pm
- Flights! Forums of Flavor – Friday, January 30th – 10:30am-1pm
- Winemakers Dinner & Auction – Friday, January 30th – 5:30-10pm
- The Tasting – Saturday, January 31st – 11am-5pm
Two of the four events are already sold out, so if you are thinking of joining us we suggest you buy your tickets now.
In addition to tasting an array of excellent zinfandels, these events provide you a very unique opportunity to chat with the winemakers themselves. Our winemaking team will be in attendance as well and we use this event as the first opportunity to showcase our upcoming releases from the 2013 vintage.
