Here we sit on the 8th of September and, if you can believe it, we’re already past the halfway mark for our Sonoma County ranches. Lytton Springs and Geyserville should be finished this week. Buchignani, East Bench, Mazzoni, and York Creek (zin) are all in, and we will be into the York Creek petite sirah this week as well. The Dusi Ranch fruit from Paso Robles is also in. Pagani Ranch and Ponzo are a week or two away, which gives us some time to turn tanks and make room in the wineries. Overall, the quality looks very good with this likely being a powerful vintage for zinfandel. As for Monte Bello, we will be finishing up the chardonnay this week and have started picking cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Berry samples are tasting great, which bodes well for its quality.
