Sustainability is a tricky thing.
It’s like mind in search of no-mind.
There is no there there.
Sustainability is a tricky thing.
It’s like sequestration.
There is no perfect answer, and there must always be compromise.
As but one example, consider weeds.
Eschew organic farming? Great, no weeds! But, poison soil and impure product.
Ok, so farm organically!
But wait! Yikes, weeds! Too many weeds! 11 holes in the weed-dam, and only 10 dam fingers!
Ok, so get tractors.
Ok, got tractors.
Yikes, diesel! Carbon footprint, carbon footprint!
The point being, we farm our estates organically, but the weed pressure is unstoppable without machine weeding, which is a carbon footprint issue.
Sustainability.
It’s like mind in search of no-mind.
In the end, we make our choices, and honor the land as best we can.
