Independence Day for the USA falls on a Wednesday this year. Some may see this as a disappointment. Challenging to pull off a proper BBQ on a Wednesday.
At Ridge, we see this as an opportunity. Not one, but two weekends to celebrate!
Accordingly, we’re bookending the holiday with two fantastic events, one at each of our Estates.
On Saturday, June 30th, at Monte Bello, we’ll be hosting our annual “Zins, Blends, & BBQ” event.
This is not something you want to miss.
The premise? Each year, one very special chef is selected to provide four styles of BBQ to pair with four of our Zinfandels. Three of the styles are to be modeled on known regional iterations. The fourth is a challenge to the chef: If Northern California were to have its own regional style of BBQ, what would it be? Your job as guests of the event? Taste and Enjoy!
This year, we have selected Daniel Cote of The Chef’s Chateau to be our chef, and we are thrilled! Over a series of VERY intensive tasting sessions, we have now landed on our menu, and I share it with you now:
–
Kansas City-style charred free-range chicken thighs
w/ mustard & bacon potato salad
paired w/ 2010 Ridge Vineyards Paso Robles Zinfandel
“Northern California-style” Smoked Seitan, in Carmichael reduction sauce
served in hand-made corn tortillas w/ avocados, crème fraiche, and pickled heirloom carrots
served w/ 2009 Ridge Vineyards Carmichael Zinfandel
(vegetarian)
North Carolina-style pulled Duroc pork butt
w/ simple slaw
paired w/ 2010 Ridge Vineyards East Bench Zinfandel
16-Hour smoked Texas-style grass-fed brisket
w/ burnt-end pinto beans
paired w/ 2009 Ridge Vineyards York Creek Zinfandel
