Mr Watkins, many thanks for the initiative!
In your honour - and in the spirit of Monk, I have just enjoyed an hour of Jazz piano classics, courtesy of the British Broadcasting Company (aka, the BBC). It featured Count Basie, Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson, Abdullah Ibrahim, Stan Tracey, Jacques Loussier, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock and finished with Diana Krall.

Sadly, not a Zin in sight. To share this extravaganza, I indulged in a 2000 York Creek Petit Sirah, Ridge of course!

Whilst the wine was indicated to have a '20 year life', that bottle just lasted as long as the programme.

The music will, fortunately, last a bit longer!

At last! The is Zin a fun, egalitarian, populist wine, or a serious, elitist wine definitively answered!
